Kaboom! Tables Game

This is a great way for your child to get to know their tables or to revise them. Write the tables on sticks. Take it in turns to pick out a stick and try to correctly answer the table. If you are correct, keep the stick. If not, you place it back in box. If you receive a stick with ‘Kaboom’ on it put all the sticks you have collected back in the box and begin again!

Create Your Own Happy Jar

Decorate your jar how your child choose (use stickers, paint, paper etc.). Next, take some small pieces of paper and think of the things that have happened to you that made you happy (small or big). Add to the jar every day with the simple things that make you happy. This is an activity that can be done as a whole family to help you through Covid-19.

Virtual Library Storytime

Irish public libraries, publishers and writers have partnered up for virtual library storytimes across the country.

Spring into Storytime is the name of libraries’ annual celebration of families reading together – and this year, they’re planning to highlight the work of Irish authors by inviting everyone to #LoveIrishWriting.

Librarians will stream storytime sessions or post them online on their social media channels, and these videos will remain online while library buildings are closed.

The Irish publishers who have signed up are:

The O’Brien Press
Mercier Press
Little Island Books
Gill Books
Futa Fata
Leabhar Breac
An Gúm
Cló Iar-Chonnacht
Cois Life
LeabhairCOMHAR

Follow your local library service’s social media channels or Libraries Ireland’s Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages to find out when storytimes in your area will be uploaded. Visit www.librariesireland.iefor more information.

The Ark @ Home
