Scoil Mhuire N.S. competed in the East Limerick  Cumann na mBunscol hurling competition on Monday 14^th May in Doon. The boys played four games in total on the day. They beat Nicker and Bilboa and they lost to Caherelly and group winners Oola. They played sportingly and fairly throughout and they represented the school admirably. A special word of thanks to the 6^th class boys Joe, Conor, John and Emmet who have played so well and so wholeheartedly for the school over the last couple of years in both Gaelic football and hurling.

Scoil Mhuire N.S. participated in the second round of the FAI 5-a-side soccer tournament in the Sean Choill sports complex in Parteen on Thursday 12th April 2018.

The boys from Scoil Mhuire played three matches in total. They won their first game against Gaelscoil Sáirséal 4-0. They beat St Patrick’s 3-2 in their second encounter with a last second goal. Their final match was against Gaelscoil Chaladh an Treoigh. After an exciting and very close match which could have gone either way, the boys from Murroe eventually lost on a scoreline of 3-1.

The boys played sportingly and skilfully throughout the competition and were wonderful representatives of our school. With the exception of Joe Shanahan in sixth class all of the boys will be eligible to compete again next year.

Best wishes also to team member Jamie Long who missed out today due to an unfortunate wrist injury. We wish Jamie a speedy recovery.

Two boys’ teams and one girls’ team represented the school. There were teams from all over the city and county participating in the tournament. The boys from fifth class played exceptionally well winning all of their games and they have progressed to the next round. All of the students from Scoil Mhuire played sportingly and fairly throughout their games. It was a very enjoyable day for all.

Scoil Mhuire participated in the  East Limerick 5-a-side indoor hurling blitz in the Millennium Hall in Caherconlish on 1^st February 2018. This blitz was for boys in fourth class and younger organised by Cumann na mBunscol. The boys played three games in total. They beat Bilboa and lost narrowly to Caherconlish and Donoughmore. All of the boys played to the best of their abilities and they played sportingly and fairly throughout. The following boys represented our school: Tommie Cusack, Tadhg McElligott, Alex Woodland, Declan Ehigie, Kyle Gow, Peter Ashe and Zinedine Laihem.

The Girls’ football team played their County Final against Tineteriffe N.S in the Gaelic Grounds this Wednesday.  It was a great occasion for all concerned and the girls were so proud to represent their school in such a big occasion.  They played a great game full of courage and spirit and were most unlucky to just come up short of the winning line on a scoreline of 1-5 to 1-2.  A great day was had by all and we are all so proud of the girls.

Scoil Mhuire played Oola N.S. in the East Limerick Cumann na mBunscol 9 a side final in the Gaelic Grounds, Limerick on Wednesday 25th October 2017.  On the day Oola proved too strong for the Murroe boys and they ran out comfortable winners in the end.  The boys from Scoil Mhuire Murroe kept on trying their very best up to the final whistle and they supported each other throughout the game.  They played sportingly and fairly and respected the referee’s decisions. We are looking forward eagerly to the hurling competition in 2018.

A word of thanks to the Parents’ Council who funded a meal for both the boys’ and girls’ teams in Supermac’s.  Also, a special word of thanks to Siobhán Flynn [mother of Laura] who had everything ready in the restaurant for the children when they came in after their matches.  Siobhán managed to get an ice-cream for all of the children too!  Your help was greatly appreciated Siobhán.
