Dear Parents,
Students’ Council: Congratulations to the boys and girls who have been elected to the Students’ Council. In Third Class: Eve Ann Shanahan, Patrick Swords. In Fourth Class: Sinéad Cusack, Jamie Long. In Fifth Class: Siobhán Cooke, George Banarie. In Sixth Class: Sarah Jane Flynn, Evan Parker, Kate Swords, Ruairí Walshe Kelly.
The main role of a Student Council as set out in the Education Act is “to promote the interests of the school and the involvement of students in the affairs of the school, in co-operation with the board, parents and teachers”. Our very best wishes to the Students’ Council in all their endeavours.
Trócaire collection: Trócaire works to support children and their families who face natural disasters and poverty. Pupils may wear a jersey on the day of the holidays, April 7th and donate €2 to support Trócaire in their work.
IRFU March 22: Sixth class pupils attended a mixed tag rugby blitz on March 22 hosted by the IRFU in Garryowen RFC. Our school played in a group with three other Limerick schools and great fun was had by all as they were coached through the games by various IRFU coaches. Lunches were provided by Aldi. It was a very enjoyable event with the emphasis on participation and fun.
FAI Soccer March 24: A total number of thirty eight boys and girls from Scoil Mhuire Murroe participated in the FAI Primary 5-a- side competition on Friday March 24th 2017. The event took place on the all-weather pitches in Sean Coill, Parteen. It was a little chilly but there was beautiful sunshine throughout and it was dry too. Children from Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes participated. There were three boys’ teams and two girls’ teams. The children represented the school really well and played fairly and sportingly in each match. They enjoyed the day very much.
Board of Management Report:
- School sign is to be erected shortly
- Limerick County Council will install a pedestrian crossing at the school
- Playground markings and markings for 5-a side soccer will be laid
- Scoil Mhuire Murroe will participate at the Digital Showcase in Mary Immaculate College of Education on Thursday, April 6th
- E.equipment is to be purchased
Easter holidays: Classes will end at 12.30 on Friday April 7th. The school will re-open on Monday, April 24th.

Students’ Council
Well done to those who were elected to the Students’ Council. The Students’ Council is made up of children from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Class.
Jolly Phonics Certificates Awarded to Junior Infants
Congratulations to all the children in Junior Infants who received their Jolly Phonics Certificates recently. The children received the Certificates on completion of the 42 Sounds of the Jolly Phonics Programme.
Junior Infant Trip to the Playground
On Monday 27th March, the Junior Infant Class had a very enjoyable trip to the playground especially with the weather being so nice!

Tag Rugby Blitz
Well done to all the boys and girls from 5th and 6th who took part in the Tag Rugby blitz today in Dooradoyle. Thanks to Éilis Crampton and Kay Healy for taking them.
World Book Day 2017
On Thursday 2nd March the school celebrated World Book Day and on Friday 3rd March many children came to school as their favourite book character. All classes got time to do Paired Reading, where a child from an older class gets an opportunity to read with a child from a younger class, which was enjoyed by all.
The school also celebrated 30 years of Where’s Wally!
Pancake Tuesday 2017
Many thanks to the Parent’s Council who cooked Pancakes for all the children and teachers in the school on Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday 28th February.
